Team LIB Turns to Titans

Another early morning for Team LIB as 3 Spartans gathered together and hopped in the car that early Sunday March 6th. The Central Illinois Masters meet was about to meet a fearsome threesome like none before. As the two veterans took the front seat, our dubbed "insane" author promptly passed out in the back seat after having only slept for about 6 hours the night before.

Team LIB kicked off the meet with Michael McDonnell jumping in for the 200 free swimming a 2:36, a full 6 seconds better than the month before at St. Charles. Shortly thereafter was Jamie "Titan" Mills swimming a blazing 1:58 200 Free. The next event was overrun by the powerhouse Jen "Gritzinger" showing the competition where its at for an age group 1st place finish in the 100 breast.

As the day continued, the Titan spirit was truly awakened in Jamie Mills as he took 2 more first place finishes in the 50 free and the 100 free. That feeling of speed and power must have been contagious as Jen was able to carry first place in every single event she swam for her age group. Of course- just winning wasn't enough for someone like Jen, she also managed to power through for a season best in he 1000 free coming in at 13:05 flat. Not to be completely outdone, Michael McDonnell stepped up to the plate completing the entire meet achieving PRs in every single event he swam.

The ride home was fun and entertaining as Jen, Jamie and Michael realized they had too much water to drink eating an amazing pasta meal with ranch dressing poured all over it and had to find a rest stop before they even reached the outskirts of Kankakee on their way back home to the north suburbs.
